About Me
Where To Start?
Hailing from Ayr, Scotland, I initially awoke my Photographic streak within the West Yorkshire town of Huddersfield, where I currently study the subject in the town's University and continue to develop my love for the practice and desire for creative expansion.
What I Do
Being a student has opened my eyes to multiple different types of Photography, all of which being interesting focuses of study. However, as of late, I am unable to pinpoint exactly what I aim to specialize in. There are so many exciting paths I can follow that I just can't be too sure what I want to do. However, I can tell you what I have created in the past and present, starting with my current work...
Narrative Collections
The Narrative work I create follows a specific set theme and incorporates a handful of genre types to build a story around the chosen theme or subject of focus. These tend to follow a narrative built around a location or locations built around a narrative.
The image exhibited here, like Jack Daniel's below, was part of a project I was assigned to create. However, with this set of work, I had free reign to create whatever I desired. With this liberty, I began working to build a narrative following one of my favourite folklore, Norse Mythology.
This image portrays an old Norseman trekking through a thick wood which seems to span endlessly.
Product and Advertising
I've dabbled within the genre in the past and had to photograph some difficult items. What made the items difficult to photograph was apparent; the material of said items.
The most notorious item I worked with was the Jack Daniels bottle. The intriguing shape and iconic brand not only made it difficult to light but also to do it justice was a task in itself.
Despite the challenge, I had a brilliant experience photographing this product, and I can truly say I'd jump back into a studio to do it all over again in a heartbeat.
